Connection Machine
  • External design of CM-1 and CM-2 model
  • The light panels of [[FROSTBURG]], a CM-5, on display at the [[National Cryptologic Museum]]. The panels were used to check the usage of the processing nodes, and to run diagnostics.
SUPERCOMPUTER
The Connection Machine; Connection machine; CM-5
A Connection Machine (CM) is a member of a series of massively parallel supercomputers that grew out of doctoral research on alternatives to the traditional von Neumann architecture of computers by Danny Hillis at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the early 1980s. Starting with CM-1, the machines were intended originally for applications in artificial intelligence (AI) and symbolic processing, but later versions found greater success in the field of computational science.
Connection pool
CACHE OF DATABASE CONNECTIONS MAINTAINED BY THE DATABASE
Connection pooling; Connection Pool
In software engineering, a connection pool is a cache of database connections maintained so that the connections can be reused when future requests to the database are required.
Connection (vector bundle)
  • A section of a bundle may be viewed as a generalized function from the base into the fibers of the vector bundle. This can be visualized by the graph of the section, as in the figure above.
  • How to recover the covariant derivative of a connection from its parallel transport. The values <math>s(\gamma(t))</math> of a section <math>s\in \Gamma(E)</math> are parallel transported along the path <math>\gamma</math> back to <math>\gamma(0)=x</math>, and then the covariant derivative is taken in the fixed vector space, the fibre <math>E_x</math> over <math>x</math>.
LINEAR CONNECTION ON A VECTOR BUNDLE
Koszul connection; Vector bundle connection; Connection on a vector bundle
In mathematics, and especially differential geometry and gauge theory, a connection on a fiber bundle is a device that defines a notion of parallel transport on the bundle; that is, a way to "connect" or identify fibers over nearby points. The most common case is that of a linear connection on a vector bundle, for which the notion of parallel transport must be linear.
Machine to machine
  • The first caller identification receiver
  • Commonplace consumer application
  • Processing Chips
TECHNOLOGIES THAT ALLOW BOTH WIRELESS AND WIRED SYSTEMS TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER DEVICES OF THE SAME TYPE
Machine to Machine; Machine-to-machine; Machine-to-Business; Machine-to-Machine; OM2M; M2M (communication)
Machine to machine (M2M) is direct communication between devices using any communications channel, including wired and wireless.
Gangway connection
  • A preserved corridor tender. The passageway runs along the side closest to the camera; the top of the passageway may be seen at the rear
  • This British locomotive has a centre buffing plate similar to that fitted to the lower portion of a Pullman-type gangway connection.
  • A GWR coach fitted with a British Standard gangway connection of the "suspended" type
  • Internal view of gangways between a [[British Rail Class 153]] and a [[British Rail Class 158]]. Notice the doors on the sides, which prevent passengers from accessing the cabs of either unit. When the gangway is not in use, they lock outwards to block off the entire cab/gangway compartment.
  • post office stowage tender]] with offset gangway connection
  • LNER Class A1 4-6-2]] with corridor tender. Circular window of passageway at upper right of tender rear.
  • View along full length of a [[Toronto Rocket]], [[folding seat]]s at the right
FLEXIBLE CONNECTOR FITTED TO THE END OF A RAILWAY COACH, ENABLING PASSENGERS TO MOVE FROM ONE COACH TO ANOTHER
Corridor (rail vehicle); Corridor tender; Corridor connection; Buffer plate; Corridor connector; Open gangway; Open-gangway
A gangway connection (or, more loosely, a corridor connection) is a flexible connector fitted to the end of a railway coach, enabling passengers to move from one coach to another without danger of falling from the train.
Animal machine
Animal machine or bête-machine (Fr., animal-machine), is a philosophical notion from Descartes in the 17th century who held that animal behaviour can be compared to the one of machines.
Time Machine (macOS)
BACKUP SOFTWARE APPLICATION DEVELOPED BY APPLE AND DISTRIBUTED AS PART OF MACOS
Time Machine (program); Apple Time Machine; Time machine (apple); Time Machine (Apple software); Time Machine (software); Time Machine (Mac OS); Time Machine (OS X); Time Machine (app)
Time Machine is the backup mechanism of macOS, the desktop operating system developed by Apple. The software is designed to work with both local storage devices and network-attached disks, and is most commonly used with external disk drives connected using either USB or Thunderbolt.
Political machine
  • 1869 tobacco label featuring [[William M. Tweed]], 19th-century political boss of New York City
TYPE OF POLITICAL GROUP
Machine politics; Political Machine; Political clientelism; Political machines; Machine (politics); City machines; City machine
In the politics of representative democracies, a political machine is a party organization that recruits its members by the use of tangible incentives—money, political jobs—and that is characterized by a high degree of leadership control over member activity. The machine's power is based on the ability of the boss or group to get out the vote for their candidates on election day.
Sex machine
  • A seesaw-like device in the [[Sex Machines Museum]] in Prague

Fucking machine; Fucksaw; Drilldo; Fuck saw; Fuck-saw; Sex-machines; F---saw; Fucksaws; Fucking-machine; Sex-machine; Bunny fucker
A sex machine is a mechanical device used to simulate human sexual intercourse or other sexual activity.Leung, Isaac (2009).
Logical machine
A logical machine is a tool containing a set of parts that uses energy to perform formal logic operations. Early logical machines were mechanical devices that performed basic operations in Boolean logic.
